MEET ASHLEY DICKEN

FOUNDER & HEAD TRAINER

My name is Ashley Dicken, and I am the Founder and Head-Trainer here at Ashley’s K9 Training. I’m a certified canine trainer and behavior specialist. I am a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, a certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, a Community Canine Evaluator, an Urban Canine Citizen Evaluator, and a S.T.A.R. Puppy Evaluator through the American Kennel Club (AKC). I received a top-tier certification at Starmark Academy (the largest International school for professional dog trainers). I attend various seminars, training courses, and workshops throughout the year to continue learning animal behavior, nutrition, canine fitness, and animal training.

My dog, Zelena, developed severe aggression and reactivity while I was in school. I made it my mission to find ways to help Zelena and met with several dog trainers. Some of these trainers promised me the world, and others stayed far away because of the severity of Zelena’s reactivity and aggression. At the peak of the problems, many people suggested I get Zelena euthanized. I was determined to avoid this at all costs and set out on a mission to help Zelena, which led me to find my passion and life's work. In an attempt to help my dog, I attended dozens of classes, lessons, workshops, schools, and seminars. While helping my girl work through her problems, I fell in love with dog training and changed my career path. Zelena sadly passed away from a brain tumor in December of 2021. She helped me grow in so many ways, and I owe her everything for being my inspiration and helping me get to where I am today. She was my greatest mentor, and the lessons she taught me as an owner and trainer will forever be with me.

I aim to use my experience and knowledge to help as many dog owners as I can better communicate with their dogs and help dogs have the best possible life they can have.
